## API quick reference
Base URL: https://app.luneamail.com/api/v1. Authenticate with "Authorization: Bearer <API key>" (create keys in Settings > API keys).
- POST /send {templateId, to, subject?, data} sends one transactional email. Handlebars templates; a variable used outside {{#if}} must be provided.
- POST /contacts {email, firstName?, lastName?, attributes?, lists?, consent: {confirmed: true, source?, ip?}} adds or updates a contact. New contacts require consent.
- GET /contacts?email= looks a contact up. DELETE /contacts?email= erases it (its unsubscribe record is kept).
- POST /contacts/unsubscribe {email} opts an address out of marketing email.
- GET /lists returns lists with member counts.
Webhooks: contact.subscribed, contact.unsubscribed, contact.bounced, contact.complained, campaign.sent, campaign.completed. Signed with HMAC-SHA256 over "<timestamp>.<body>" in the X-LuneaMail-Signature header (v1=<hex>). Retried with backoff for about two days.

Tools: get_account, get_performance, list_campaigns, get_campaign_results, list_audiences, add_contacts, list_templates, design_email, create_campaign_draft, send_test_email, prepare_send, send_campaign. Sending is two-step: prepare_send returns a summary and a confirmation token the person must approve before send_campaign.

### What is LuneaMail?

### Can I send transactional email like license keys and receipts?
Yes. Call POST /api/v1/send with an API key, a template ID, the recipient and the data. Templates use Handlebars, so optional parts ({{#if seats}}) and lists ({{#each downloads}}) render from the data you send. Transactional email needs no list or marketing consent.

### Does LuneaMail have a free plan?
Yes. Free is $0 with 500 contacts, 2,000 emails and 15 AI-written emails a month. Every new account also gets 14 days of Pro with no card.

### Can AI agents like Claude use LuneaMail?
Yes. LuneaMail has an MCP server. Any MCP client that supports HTTP with an API key header, such as Claude Code or Cursor, can read your results, list audiences, design emails, create drafts and send tests. A real send needs an explicit confirmation step, so an agent can't email your list on its own.

### Does AI write my emails?
If you want. Describe the email and give the facts; LuneaMail writes the copy in your brand's voice, picks a layout, then fact-checks the draft against your brief and flags anything it can't trace back, so it doesn't invent prices, dates or names.

### How does LuneaMail protect deliverability?
Every send gets a spam and delivery check (content rules, your domain's SPF and DMARC, and an AI read). You can send from your own authenticated domain; every campaign carries one-click unsubscribe headers and your postal address; bounces and spam complaints are suppressed automatically.

### Is there an API and webhooks?
Yes. The REST API sends email, adds and updates contacts, unsubscribes and erases them, and lists your lists. Signed webhooks report subscribes, unsubscribes, bounces, complaints, and when campaigns start and finish, with retries for about two days.
